Blogs
Custom Blogs
Here is a collection of some of the blogs that we’ve build over the years. Some blogs displays posts in chronological order, and some display posts based on categories. Depending on which WordPress theme is being used different layouts are possible, like layouts with left or right sidebars/navigations.
Something to Consider
The time required to build a customized blog depends on the chosen theme.
For instance, blogs using the newer Kraken Framework theme are easier to customize due to its flexible design and our growing library of reusable gists. In contrast, older themes like SplashPress, Divi, and Enfold rely on less adaptable frameworks, making modifications more complicated.
Additionally, blogs cannot be directly copied between sites with different themes. For example, migrating a blog from an older Kraken site to one using the new Kraken Framework—or vice versa—will likely require a full rebuild or extensive modifications.
SparkProof’s Blog
Built using the standard WordPress Blog Posts with CSS Customizations
(Kraken 2.6.3)
SparkProof’s blog is built on WordPress’s default blog functionality but was heavily customized, making development time-consuming.
For this design, default blog elements (e.g., date, author) were rearranged or removed, requiring extensive template and parent theme modifications.
Important: If a client using an older Kraken version wants this blog style, they must either upgrade to the new Kraken Framework for easier implementation, or have Chris handle the build due to parent theme customizations.
Time to Build: 8 – 12 Hours
Tolko’s Blog
Built using Custom Post Types, in order to keep the 4 different content types separated.
(Tolko 1.0.0)
This blog was built using 4 custom post types, News, Products, Community, and Careers, instead of WordPress’s default blog. This method allows visitors to view only posts relevant to the content type they are viewing.
Northern Route’s Blog
Default WordPress Blog with CSS Customizations, Using Categories
(Enfold 6.0.8)
Northen Route’s blog was built using the default WordPress blog functionality, with CSS customizations to adjust the way the posts displayed. This blog was fairly simple to develop compared some of the others we’ve built.
Greenstep’s Blog
Custom WordPress Blog in Combination with the Kadence Theme (Kadence 1.2.14)
This is another blog that was built with the standard WordPress blog posts, but with CSS customizations that make it unique. No template files were modified to create this look, but the Kadence theme made the layout customizations very simple to
